FAQ

I’m not a fan of AI. Why become an AI Informed Therapist?

1

Becoming an AI Informed Therapist means that you understand enough about AI to assess how your clients use it, how it impacts them and how it influences the therapeutic space. Think of it this way: being a trauma-informed therapist doesn’t mean that you are a fan of trauma.

Do I have to use AI to be AI Informed?

2

People have legitimate reasons for not using AI. Through our small group discussions and events, you can learn about how AI is impacting our clinical work without ever talking to a machine!

AI is a polarizing topic and I’m protecting my nervous system. Is this space for me?

3

You’re right, AI conversations can heat up fast! We protect the space by keeping groups small and meeting live, on camera or in person. We don’t record, and we agree as a group to keep what’s discussed in the room.

We slow down to tend to our reactions as they come up. We use the same skills we teach our clients, and we lean into the friction of being messy humans during uncertain times, together. We keep things collegial and warm, even when we disagree.

Come when you’re ready. Listening is a perfectly good way to participate.

I think AI is an amazing tool and I use it in my practice. Will I be judged in this space?

4

You’ll be welcome here. Most of us use AI in some form, whether we realize it or not. Some of us are enthusiastic adopters. Some (like me) are ambivalent users. Others are deliberately keeping their distance.

We need all of those perspectives in the room. Expect some curious questions about how you use it. You know things about AI in practice that the rest of us don’t, and we learn the most when we can talk openly about where it helps and where it worries us.
